The recent earthquake in Haiti has raised the concerns of many and it is great to see so many people offering to help in any way possible to the victims in need.
Godaddy, which I buy all my domain names through, made a contribution of $500,000, WOW! That is awesome.

Today Go Daddy sent a check for $500,000 to Hope for Haiti, an organization committed to making a difference in Haiti by focusing on education, nutrition and healthcare.
Hope for Haiti Executive Director Elizabeth Davison was in tears as she spoke with Go Daddy executives by phone this afternoon. “We’re overwhelmed by Go Daddy’s quick response and generous contribution,” Davison said. “We plan to use this money to help rebuild the hospital and the orphanage in Port-au-Prince.”
Quite often I come across people buying, selling or using domain name that include a trademarked name in them. Apparently some people just don’t realize that the companies that trademark these names can come after you,
If you are lucky, they will simply file a complaint with ICANN UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy). They will normally win and gain control of the domain names. If they are a little more serious about the issue, they can take you court where you could be subjected to fines in excess of $100,000 and forfeited profits from the use of that Trademarked name.
Apple just recently seized 16 domain names from one individual. The domain names were:
blueipod.com
iphonecheap.com
iphonetoys.com
ipodaccessories.info
ipodkits.com
ipodsbaratos.com
macbookpro.biz
macbookpro.com
macbookpro.net
macbookpro.org
macfriend.com
redipods.com
macbook.us
macbookpro.us
macbooks.us
macpro.us
This post was inspired by a post at the Warrior Forum here – http://www.warriorforum.com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/165618-apple-seizes-16-domain-names.html
I found that after finding a few sites/domains for sale at various locations on the net that all included Trademarked names.
Here is the article about the Apple seizure – http://www.techcrunch.com/2010/01/07/apple-domain-names/
Everyday I here someone talking about duplicate content and “the penalty”. Well for those that know, there is no “penalty” for duplicate content. There are pena;ties for “spam” sites and that is often where the confusion lies. Someone creates a spam blog with useless scraped duplicated conten and their site gets banned and they blame it on the duplicate content, not the fact that they created a Splog to try and game the system.
We have provided plenty of proof that using content that is also available elsewhere can still rank just as well and sometimes even higher if done properly. If you need additional proof just let us know and we will post it. But for starters, here is a video straight from GOOGLE that explains most of it.
